Who is The Speech Lily?

My name is Lily Burnham. I am a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with experience in hospital, school, and private practice settings. My professional background includes  the evaluation and treatment of clients in-person and via teletherapy. Additionally, I enjoy providing tutoring and training to other professionals in my field. When the pandemic struck in 2020, there was a need for speech and language professionals to pivot immediately to telepractice. I utilized my background in IT and research skills to develop training modules that supported SLP's in delivering quality services online, including tutorials on the creation of virtual speech rooms, Boom Learning, Google Slides, and other related content. These training materials were widely used in my graduate program and were regarded as high quality content by faculty and alumni. My favorite part of the profession is having consistent opportunities for continuing education to ensure evidence-based practices are being utilized for maximum growth for patients and their families. I am a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, play-based, and LGBTQ+ supporting clinician.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of  West Georgia and my Master of Science degree from Tennessee State University. I also hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Current state licensure includes Georgia but I am interested in pursuing licensure in other states as well for teletherapy patients. My unique background of careers, prior to speech pathology, includes auditing, IT Support, quality analyst, and customer service. These experiences shaped me into the reliable, energetic, organized, self-motivated, passionate and technically proficient professional I am today.
